On Tuesday, the DAILY POST gave you a sneak preview on Monday
after we got reports from Isiolo that the man in John Allan Namu’s documentary
had come out and yesterday, he was indeed in Nairobi addressing a press
conference. If you missed
Daniel Muthee Ngeera, a 58 year old timber trader in Isiolo is
appealing for the government to provide him with protection as the DAILY
NATION and NTV aired photos of him alleging that he
is Felician Kabuga, the Rwandan genocide perpetrator.
Sh. 400 million bounty has been offered for the person who will
capture Kabuga and now Ngeera life being is in danger.
Speaking during a press conference at police headquarters at
Vigilance house, Ngeera said that pictures of him were aired on Sunday evening
and he has no idea how somebody managed to take a photo of him.
He further added that he has never offered his pictures to
anybody; his wife is alleged to have collapsed when she saw his pictures in the
prime time news on NTV, and she accused him of lying to her.
The father of four and a former civil servant told the media
that the photos which were aired were taken at his timber yard in Isiolo as he
showed the exact government T-shirt that was featured in the story.
His life has changed since Sunday as unknown people keep
tracking him down. He has had to move out of his Isiolo home and closed his
timber yard in fear of his life. The family is now living in a hotel and
planning to sue NTV for damages.
Police spokesman Eric Kiraithe has denounced claims from John
Allan Namu (NTV award winning reporter) that Kabuga is living within Kenyan
borders.
He said the UN International Criminal Tribunal and the FBI have
been searching for Kabuga in Kenya since 2007 and if the claims were true the
two foreign departments would by now have captured Kabuga.
Kiraithe said they have followed over 30 blunt leads all over
the country since 2008, Kenya Revenue Authorities has also been investigated
and no reports on the hiding of Kabuga in Kenya has cropped up yet, the entry
and exit registries in Kenya do not show any entrance of Kabuga through the
Kenyan borders.
He further added the picture of the man who is said to have been
photographed by Salunei (an ex-Kenya Defense Forces employee) at Forces
Memorial Hospital were that of Ngeera and not Kabuga.
Kiraithe also confirmed that the man alleged to have given
Kabuga protection- Salunei, has never served in KDF as there are no records of
him since 1996.
Was NTV giving false information ……… your judgment?
